Wildlife & Seasons
- June – October: The dry season generally offers excellent wildlife viewing as vegetation becomes thinner and animals concentrate around reliable water sources. Clear skies and cooler mornings make this an especially popular safari period.
- November – March: Short rains bring fresh green landscapes, excellent birdlife and dramatic scenery. Wildlife remains present throughout the private conservancy.
- April – May: The long rains transform the area into a lush, green wilderness. This is a quieter period for travel and particularly appealing for guests interested in landscapes, birdlife and photography.
- Year-round: The conservancy supports resident populations of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope species, alongside excellent birdlife including rollers, bee-eaters, owls, falcons and guineafowl. Nimali lists Ilaroi House as a year-round property.

Location
Maasai Steppe, near Tarangire
Nimali Ilaroi House sits high above the plains on a private 10,000-acre conservancy overlooking the Maasai Steppe, approximately 160 kilometres south-east of Arusha and within easy reach of Tarangire National Park.
Its elevated position at approximately 4,025 feet above sea level provides uninterrupted panoramic views across the surrounding wilderness. The private conservancy supports an impressive variety of resident wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras and several antelope species.
One of Ilaroi House’s biggest advantages is its isolation. Because guests stay on a private conservancy rather than solely inside a national park, experiences can include night game drives, guided walking safaris and highly flexible private activities.
The most seamless way to arrive is by private charter flight. Ilaroi Private Airstrip is approximately a 20-minute flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by just a five-minute drive to the house. Lake Manyara is approximately 15 minutes away by charter, Kuro Airstrip around 10 minutes and Seronera approximately 45 minutes.
Its combination of privacy, space, wildlife and easy access to the wider Tarangire region makes Nimali Ilaroi House particularly suited to guests wanting to experience northern Tanzania without following the schedule of a traditional safari lodge.
