Lake Manyara lies beneath the dramatic escarpment of Tanzania’s Great Rift Valley and is one of the most scenic destinations on the Northern Safari Circuit. The area combines spectacular landscapes with diverse wildlife, dense groundwater forest, open plains, wetlands and the shimmering waters of Lake Manyara itself.
Lake Manyara National Park is particularly famous for its prolific birdlife, large elephant population and tree-climbing lions. Flamingos and other waterbirds can often be seen around the lake, while giraffes, buffalo, hippos, zebras and numerous antelope species inhabit the surrounding ecosystem.
